Getting started

Do I need any experience?
No. Both courses start from zero and build in a clear order, from your first beat or first mix to finished tracks and real sets. Plenty of students have never touched Ableton or a controller before.
What gear do I need?
A Mac (MacBook Pro M1 or newer is ideal), Ableton Live Suite for the Ableton course, and a Pioneer DDJ-FLX4 or similar for the DJ course. Everything else can wait. See the full gear guide.
Can I use a Windows PC?
The courses are taught on Mac, so a Mac is what we recommend. Ableton runs on Windows too, but the screens and shortcuts you see in the lessons are Mac.
Do I have to buy Ableton straight away?
No. Ableton has a free 30 day trial of Live Suite, and a rent to own plan that spreads the cost over monthly payments.
Which course should I start with?
Want to make music? Start with the Ableton Course. Want to DJ? Start with the DJ Course. Want both? The bundle saves you £97. Compare them side by side.
